Nano Class Requirements

The Nano class was created for vehicles such as the Axial SCX30 and the Redcat Ascent 32, among others. As more of these vehicles enter the market and we see what components become available, we will continue to develop and refine the rules of the category.

BodyAny lexan or hard plastic body resembling a full-size drivable vehicle. No tire coverage rule. Tube chassis and Warthog chassis are not allowed. Bottom edge must be high enough that drivetrain isn’t visible from side view. From above, body must extend past front and rear axles by minimum 3 mm, and must cover motor, receiver, speed controller, and battery. Front windshield required. If body has a roll cage instead of a driver cabin (e.g., Axial Deadbolt), windshield is not required. Pickup or cab-only body must have a full bed visible from the side; a single plate is not enough.
ChassisMust use a chassis consisting of two vertical rails or bars similar to stock chassis configuration. Rails may be carbon, aluminum, titanium, 3D printed, etc.
BumperNo bumper requirements.
MotorBrushed or brushless motor allowed. Only one motor.
BatteryAny LiPo battery up to 2 cells. Battery may be relocated but must be mounted to chassis.
ElectronicsNo electronics restrictions. Only servo may be mounted on axle; no other electronics on axle.
WheelsAny wheel material; maximum diameter 0.7″. One-piece or beadlock wheels allowed.
TiresAny tire with maximum outer diameter 40 mm. Tires must be made of a single rubber piece as originally manufactured. Sidewalls must retain brand/model/size markings. Tread may be cut/trimmed. Tires can be vented.
DrivetrainOnly permanent 4-wheel drive (4WD). No 6×6 or dual setups. Only front wheel steering allowed; vehicles with 4-wheel steering may not compete. Drivetrain limited to one front and one rear driveshaft unit. Driveshafts must connect as straight as possible to transmission.
SuspensionAftermarket shocks allowed. Must use 4 shocks (1 per wheel). Suspension links may be modified. Rubber band is allowed.
WinchOptional but allowed. Maximum 10 cm long at rest measured from anchor point to hook.
Gate WidthMinimum 3.75″ / 95 mm.
